Xiaomi SU7 EV

Xiaomi has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with its first car, the SU7. This exciting new model arrives in three variants: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max.

The SU7 competes directly with popular EVs like the BMW i4, BYD Seal, and Tesla Model 3.

A Passion Project from Xiaomi CEO

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced the company’s EV ambitions three years ago on X (formerly Twitter). Jun stated his unwavering commitment to the project, calling it “a battle I’ve set out to conquer.”

Xiaomi SU7 Price and Availability

The base Xiaomi SU7 starts at an attractive price of 215,900 yuan ($29,870), undercutting the entry-level Tesla Model 3 in China ( priced at RMB 245,900). The SU7 Pro matches the Tesla’s price, while the top-of-the-line SU7 Max starts at RMB 299,900 (initially planned for RMB 350,000). Deliveries for the standard and Max variants begin in April, with the Pro following in May.

Tech-Packed Design and Features

The SU7 boasts several innovative features:

  • Wireless CarPlay and iPad connectivity
  • Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS): Xiaomi Pilot Pro and Pilot Max offer varying levels of assisted driving, with Pilot Max featuring LiDAR technology for enhanced functionality. User testing for Pilot Max begins in April and expands nationwide by August.
  • Interior Comfort: The SU7 boasts a superior cooling system, keeping the interior significantly cooler than a Tesla Model 3 after sun exposure. Passengers can also enjoy a spacious cabin with a large panoramic sunroof and a built-in refrigerator.
  • Customization Options: The SU7 comes in a variety of exterior and interior color options, along with wheel size choices ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

Impressive Performance and Range

The SU7 offers two platform options: 400V and 800V. The 400V platform provides a 350-kilometer range on a 15-minute charge, while the 800V version extends that to 510 kilometers. Xiaomi is building its own network of supercharging stations with a powerful 600 kW liquid-cooled solution, with initial stations planned for major Chinese cities.

The base SU7 offers a starting CLTC range of 700 kilometers, powered by a 73.6-kWh battery pack. The high-performance SU7 Max boasts a staggering 810-kilometer range thanks to its 101-kWh CATL Qilin Battery.

Powering the SU7 is a dual-motor system generating a maximum horsepower of 673, a peak power of 495 kW, and a peak torque of 838 Nm. The SU7 Max accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in a blistering 2.78 seconds and reaches a top speed of 265 km/h.

A Strong Contender in the EV Market

With its competitive pricing, impressive range, and cutting-edge features, the Xiaomi SU7 is poised to be a major player in the electric vehicle market.
